Our 3 Phase Process For Your Brand New Website

Planning for a new website? Choosing your web designer is no small feat. You want a team that can transform your vision from an idea to a display. You want a partner who not only builds you a website, but ensures you’re getting the most out of it. Tunnel 7 is dedicated to doing just that. Here’s what our process looks like…
We design websites in three phases:
- Discovery
- Design
- Development
We act as your guides throughout the process, partnering with you every step of the way.
PHASE ONE: Discovery
Getting to Know You
Duration: 1 month
Client involvement level: Low
Before we do anything, we take the time to get to know you and your business. We’ll ask you to fill out an initial questionnaire about who you are, what you do and the site you want to build. Then we’ll have a kickoff call to review the questionnaire and to make sure we understand your goals for the site.
Next we’ll start doing our homework. We conduct competitor research, define the technical requirements of the project, review your style guide and gather logos and other graphics. From here, we start defining the sitemap, content model and (in some cases) wireframes for your new site.
Once all of this is complete, we’ll reconnect with you for final review.
PHASE TWO: Design
Not Just Pretty Pictures
Duration: 1-2 months, depending on project
Client involvement level: Low
Building off of the work we did in the Discovery phase, we’ll create a custom website design for your new site. We won’t start from a pre-existing template - our design work is custom, informed by design trends and best practices, and designed specifically with your goals in mind. You’ll have an opportunity to weigh in on the designs and request any adjustments that are needed. We’ll get your signoff on the designs before moving on to the next phase.
PHASE THREE: Development
Making it Real
Duration: 2-3 months, depending on project
Client involvement level: Medium
Once we have your approval on the designs, we’ll be off and running to build your site. The site will be custom coded and will likely be built in a content management system (we commonly use ExpressionEngine, but we also build Wordpress sites regularly).
Parallel to our work building the site, you will be defining and entering content on the new site in development. You’ll be asked to weigh in on any major development decisions that crop up and all projects involve a substantial period for testing before they go live. You’ll have a chance to review everything before going live.
You can expect the site to be built in a way that is SEO-friendly, easy for your website users to navigate and easy for you to update with new content as needed.
FINAL PHASE: Launch!
